I had to choose ME!
To talk about our assault and hurt we are outing someone else, it is the time to share and choose YOU, to honor your truth.
Svava came to America from Iceland with the thoughts in mind that she would leave behind all her troubles. It was a tough reality that to admit to herself to that she had been hurt and that lead her to her current position as an abuse survivor coach.
Svava had to recover from her own situation, find her safe place and honor herself. She had to learn to love "Svava" again, because that was unfamiliar territory. She invites people to take responsibility to make the changes necessary for their own journey. She describes it as courageous undercover - and you don't have to shout from the rooftops, you have simply work to connect to the reality and help yourself.
Svava reminds us that Child Abuse and Sexual Assault are common, what is uncommon is talking about it. Trauma isolates you and separates you from the truth. It creates the feelings of being alone. What she has found is that it wasn't the abuse itself that was the hardest part, it was that she had NO ONE to share it with, to talk to, to let it out.
