You teach them and they can do it themselves!
Chris Conder began a journey that she never imagined would be keeping her busy 19 years later. As a community volunteer Chris was involved in the school, and council and supporting her community. As her children grew up she was available to offer more time to the community.
Chris knew the power of the internet and set out on a quest to bring it to her rural farming community. She began a computer club to help others learn about the benefits.
Chris surrounded herself with resources and people including Lancaster University. The team began with wireless and beaming signals from one barn to another. With the creation of YouTube the system couldn't keep up with video, and a new project was born - installing Fibre.
Chris and her team began - B4RN - Broadband for the Rural North Ltd. B4RN is a professionally designed fibre optic broadband network, registered as a non-profit community benefit society, and run by a dedicated local team with the support of landowners and volunteers.
Chris is an amazing example of teaching people to help themselves and others.
