Our past does not determine our destiny.
Karen Williams is proud to be working for Nova Scotia Business Inc. as an export development executive. Her role is working with diverse business owners and entrepreneurs, including women owned businesses. Although not an entrepreneur, she recalls her destiny that began at age 2 a photo in front of Mount Saint Vincent University. A life long dream was fulfilled when she graduated from there after high school. It was predominantly a women's university that opened doors, and created opportunities to step into roles of leadership.
Karen turned 60 this year and believes that this is the best time of her life. She believes that it is a process, as younger women we carry lots of wounds with us. Sometimes we are looking for love in all the wrong places, it is a process of letting go of the past. You can't heal and move on without forgiving first, that doesn't necessarily mean forgetting. If you are in a place that you are happy, you are less concerned with what other people think. It is a feeling of letting go and being who we are. Looking at the world with a new wonder.
Karen is a proud mom and grandmom, but admits that life is filled with challenges, but working together you can overcome most anything. Her and her husband have a relationship based in faith. They are active grandparents, and excited to share unconditional love and support. Karen shares that they shared at their son's wedding that they were not perfect, and they made mistakes. It was a gift of wisdom in front of family and friends to encourage their son to accept mistakes.
Karen's love story with her husband, was a second chance! They met in high school, but her parents didn't think they should be together. They found their way back to each other in their 30's and got married then.
Karen says that open communication is the key to successful relationships!
